Carrara C is a classic white marble quarried in the famed Carrara region of Tuscany, Italy, an area renowned for producing some of the world’s most iconic natural stones since Roman times. Known for its timeless elegance and subtle beauty, Carrara C is one of the most widely recognised and specified marbles in architecture and design globally.

This marble is characterised by a light to medium grey veining that gently flows across a clean white to pale grey background, offering a soft and harmonious appearance. The “C” grade refers to its relatively uniform tone and finer veining, making it a popular choice for spaces seeking a refined and consistent look.

Composed primarily of calcium carbonate, Carrara C has a tight crystalline structure, giving it moderate durability suitable for a wide range of interior applications such as vanities, benchtops, wall cladding, flooring, and feature walls. As with all marbles, it is sensitive to acidic substances and should be sealed and maintained regularly to protect its surface and enhance its longevity.

Carrara C may include natural features such as ghiacciolo (small white quartz crystal clusters), taroli (surface pits or craters), and subtle mineral inclusions — all of which are considered part of the stone’s authenticity and natural formation.

This is considered normal:

Veining pattern and intensity: Acceptable in varied forms; each slab is unique.
Ghiacciolo (quartz clusters): Acceptable and part of the stone’s natural identity.
Taroli (small pits): Acceptable if less than 5mm in size and not overly concentrated.

As it is a natural material, these ‘imperfections’ must be considered as proof of the authenticity of the material and of the intrinsic and essential characteristics of the marble.
