Our OLIVETTI Stone Mosaic Collection is inspired by ancient mosaic floors stretching back to Roman mosaics as seen at the Coliseum. The beautiful, detailed natural Artisan finish captures this timeless quality of hand cut stone with clear horizontal line reflecting stone strata. Olivetti Sheets are interlocking.

Featuring a creamy beige to warm ivory base, Travertine Classico is characterised by its linear striations, subtle tonal banding, and naturally formed surface voids, which may be left unfilled for a rustic look or filled and honed for a smooth, modern finish. Its soft, neutral tones and gently textured surface create a warm, inviting aesthetic ideal for flooring, wall cladding, bathrooms, vanities, staircases, and architectural details.

Composed primarily of calcium carbonate, Travertine Classico is a sedimentary rock formed by the precipitation of minerals from geothermal springs. Its open, porous structure contributes to its distinctive texture and natural charm, though it does require sealing and regular maintenance to protect against staining and moisture.

This is considered normal:

  • Natural surface voids and pits: Typical of travertine and may be filled or unfilled depending on the finish.
  • Tonal variation and banding: Expected and part of the stone’s natural aesthetic.
  • Fossil traces or mineral inclusions: Common and add character to the surface.

Travertine Classico offers timeless beauty and architectural heritage — a versatile stone that brings warmth, texture, and Italian elegance to a wide range of interior and exterior applications.

Another feature that can appear in Travertine Classico are ‘taroli’, which are small craters on the surface of the Travertine and are the natural result of the crystallisation of calcium carbonate. It can be up to several millimetres in diameter.

As it is a natural material, these ‘imperfections’ must be considered as proof of the authenticity of the material and of the intrinsic and essential characteristics of the marble.

As a porous material, Travertine Classico should be sealed and properly maintained to protect against staining, especially in wet or high-use areas.

This visually expressive stone is often chosen for high-impact design applications where natural beauty and statement aesthetics are desired. Due to its rare colour composition and soft patterning, Travertine Classico is especially popular in boutique residential projects, luxury retail spaces, and artistic installations.
