Basketweave BOTTICINO Tumbled with THASSOS Dot Tumbled- VM2349
Our Basketweave Stone Mosaic Collection is inspired by ancient mosaic floors stretching back to Roman mosaics as seen at the Coliseum. The beautiful, detailed natural finish captures this timeless quality of stone with clear horizontal line reflecting stone strata. Basketweave Sheets are interlocking. The Botticino & Thassos are in a tumbled finish that gives a softness to the Basketweave.
Botticino is a timeless natural marble quarried in the province of Brescia, in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Named after the town of Botticino where it is extracted, this stone has been prized since ancient Roman times for its warm, classic beauty and enduring strength.
Botticino marble is characterised by a creamy beige to light honey background, often interspersed with delicate white veining, occasional fossil inclusions, and subtle clouding. Its neutral tone and soft movement make it an ideal choice for elegant, understated interiors — frequently used in both traditional and contemporary settings.
Thasos is a tranquil island in Greek Aegean Sea. Drawing from this tranquillity, Thassos Marble’s pure white sits comfortably in the modern home. Marble Thassos White dazzles with its outstanding purity. This crisp white stone has a sense of harmony that is perfectly balanced and offers a desirable sense of peace for your home and, by extension, your life. It is suitable in spaces with a loft, or Zen theme, or in combination with others, to create a sense of well-being, and calm.
Due to its natural formation, Botticino & Thassos may display occasional inclusions, veining variations, or mineral bursts — unique crystalline patterns formed under intense pressure and heat. These features may include fine fissures, colour clouds, or embedded pockets of translucent quartz that shimmer subtly in the light.
These natural markings are not defects, but rather are considered evidence of the authenticity and uniqueness of the stone. As with all natural materials, minor visual differences are to be expected and celebrated.
This is considered normal:
- Dramatic veining and tonal shifts: Expected and valued; each slab is visually unique.
- Quartz or mineral inclusions: Acceptable in any shape or size; often add depth and sparkle.
- Surface pits (taroli): Acceptable if under 5mm and not overly concentrated.
As a porous material, Botticino & Thassos Basketweave should be sealed and properly maintained to protect against staining, especially in wet or high-use areas and can be sensitive to acidic substances, so sealing and maintenance are essential. When properly cared for, it delivers lasting elegance and comfort.
This visually expressive mosaic is often chosen for high-impact design applications where natural beauty and statement aesthetics are desired. Due to its rare colour composition and dramatic patterning, Basketweave mosaics are especially popular in boutique residential projects, luxury retail spaces, and artistic installations.
